Gather All Ye Round for this Christmas Score for the Bennetch Three Will Soon Become Four!!

Displaying IMG_9219.JPGWhen you announce you are having a baby, there is something that everyone tends to ask – “Do you want it to be a boy or a girl?” Some parents give answers, but me? No way. I always wanted it to be a surprise. So when we found out we were pregnant, I had no answer to their questions if I wanted a boy or a girl. I reverted back to my childhood state at Christmas and knew that, no matter what, I would love what I received.

It’s fitting that Christmas is around the corner for you to hear the story of how the three of us became four. Before we go into that, you need to know a little more about your dad and how I approached Christmas growing up. I never knew what I would get for Christmas, which always made me so excited and wondered what I may receive. I soon found out that I was the only one in my family who didn’t know what they were receiving the older I got. Your grandparents and aunts both asked for certain items and, when they received them, acted surprised (probably for my benefit). It didn’t really bother me because I knew, no matter what I got, that I would love it because of the thought that was behind the gift.

We found out that you were a girl and that I was soon to be greatly outnumbered at our house! We decided we would name you Lucy.

Lucy, you are named after some amazing women that I grew up with – one real and one fictional. You are first named after Lucy from the Chronicles of Narnia. Your Diva used to read us those books as kids and it was there that she became my favorite. She was the youngest of the group but she, in my opinion, was the bravest and full of heart. It is my hope that these traits follow you the rest of your days.

You are also named after the funniest woman to ever be on television, Lucille Ball. It is my father intuition that you, my dear, will be quite silly – like me. That is why, when I knew you were going to be a girl, I knew you had to be a “Lucy”.

So as we enter into this Christmas season, I hope you girls know that you will always remain our favorite presents. We were happy as a family of three but even more complete as a group of four! Merry Christmas girls!!

P.S. I lied --- I wanted you to be a girl all along.

P.S.S. Being your dad is awesome!
